St. Xavier National Honor Society
Raises Money for Well in Nigeria
Each year
during Lent, the Salina Diocese schedules Mission Week for the Catholic Schools.
In 2006, Sister Teresita Huse, Dominican Sisters of Great Bend, Kansas, spoke to
St.
Xavier High School
students. The students were so moved by her presentation that since then,
the St. Xavier National Honor Society raised and has now donated $1,200 to have
a water well dug in Nigeria, Africa. The
well will enable the citizens to have clean drinking water. The sign by the
water well will read “St. Francis Xavier National Honor Society, Junction City,
Kansas.” Plans are for the well to be dug in January
2010.
