National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist
St. Francis Xavier School is pleased to announce that senior, Miguel Weber, has been named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Miguel has attended St. Xavier for 4 years and has been active in scholars bowl, chess club, yearbook, forensics, Future Business Leaders of America, Student Council, and the National Honor Society. When asked to comment, Miguel stated “It’s an honor to be named a semifinalist. I feel as if more doors have opened for me.”
Representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, Miguel has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement throughout high school and has earn exceptional SAT® or ACT® scores to attain the semifinalist distinction. “Miguel is a very good student who has consistently scored at the top of his class despite taking a challenging course load.” remarked Alex Becker, St. Xavier math teacher, scholar’s bowl coach, chess coach, and past National Merit Scholarship recipient who introduced Miguel to the National Merit Scholarship Program.
The next step requires semifinalists to submit a detailed scholarship application, essay, and earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test. Miguel plans to move forward with the process and will find out in February if he advances to the finalist level.

November Teacher and Students of the Month
Congratulations to our November teacher of the month, Mrs. Baseley! Parents stated that Mrs. Baseley goes above and beyond for her students trying to have each kid work at their level of learning. She does her best to overcome challenges and help her students excel. She has excellent communication with families, and she devotes a great deal of time to school activities through both PTO and Activities. Wonderful job, Mrs. Baseley!
Congratulations to our November middle school student of the month, 8th grader, Savannah Englert. Savannah is a consistent student when it comes to doing her work and turning it in on time. She is also willing to help out with tasks in the classroom and gets along well with both staff and students. Way to go Savannah!
Congratulations to our November high school student of the month, junior Janis Curit! Janis has an extensive knowledge of history and is usually willing to share what he knows. He is also patient and kind with the students in the lower grades
when they are learning to serve for Mass. It is appreciated that he has taken
responsibility for raising and lowering the US flag each day. Janis is also willing to
lift a helping hand when there is something to set up for or clean up after. Nice job, Janis!

Locker Room Renovation
The current locker rooms were originally built in the 1960’s and have never been updated. The goal of this renovation project is to make both the exterior and interior of the locker rooms welcoming to all. We are currently accepting donations to help complete this project that will not only better our facilities but make our campus inviting to all for a variety of events like ball games, the auction, and the alumni banquet. With your prayers, financial assistance, and dedication, we can make this dream a reality. If you would like to help, please come by the school office M-F from 7:50am-3:50pm.
